My name is Jonathan Larson and I am the adviser for the Volunteer Dearborn student organization on the campus of the University of Michigan - Dearborn and I would like to welcome you to our blog!

This space will be used to post upcoming events sponsored by Volunteer Dearborn. This includes Day of Service events, such as Gandhi Day of Service, Homecoming Day of Service, Make a Difference Day and the MLK Day of Service.

We will also post information on one time and long term volunteer opportunities as they come into the Student Activities Office.

There will be photo galleries showcasing our commitment to the metro-Detroit community as well as areas for members to reflect on their experiences while volunteering.

Make a Difference Day - October 25th


Make Difference Day is a National day of service and this year Volunteer Dearborn will be volunteering and giving back to our community. Volunteer Dearborn will be working with Gleaners of Taylor, The Greening of Detroit and other organizations in the Metro-Detroit area.



  • Where: City of Taylor and the City of Detroit
  • Service Locations:
    • Gleaners Community Food Bank
    • Greening of Detroit
  • When: Saturday, October 25, 2008
  • Time: Meet at the UC at 8am. We will carpool to the sites around 8:30am
  • Number of Volunteers Needed: Greening of Detroit: 60+; Gleaners 10-15
